You can either do ILs or choose from a number of RTA categories. I can recommend Millennium Racer: Y2K Fighters, it also has some platforming elements and it feels good to learn, hard to master. You can check those submissions on, maybe there's something in there. It's a hard game, but not to the point of being too frustrating to learn. A Race Against Time (racing marathon) is coming up. Star Wars Episode I: Racer (PC, N64, Dreamcast) Try this one out if you're into sci-fi racers.

If you're more of an RTA runner, there's also plenty of categories to choose from. You can easily just get the game without any knowledge and start going for some ILs, you will improve quickly. Wave Race 64 (N64, VC, Wii U VC, iQue) This game is very satisfying to run, as it's basically all about optimizing your movement and learning more about the physics.
